There are 10 fields. On each step of simulation, each cell of each field has applied to it:

- Diffusion factor,

- Global wave factor,

- Relationship factor,

- Consumption factor,

-Event factor.

Diffusion factor "spreads things around" and is modulated positively by star density, population, and mood, and modulated negatively by current crime level and current alien level. Global wave factor is 0 for all fields except current crime and alien levels. Relationship factor takes into account all the relationships that wares can have, such as Ore affecting High Tech Wares. Consumption factor is applied to most ware fields, and slowly drains the field in that cell. Some fields are static, such as Star Density or Tech Level. Event factor occasionally spawns or destroyed random amount of a field in a random place.
